Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Week

This week (September 18-24 2011) is Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Week. The picture above is to light a candle for all of the people who have lost their battle to Mitochondrial disease. Many precious lives have been cut short by this awful disease. The link below is a video created by a parent of a child with Mito. I am featured in the last few minutes of the video.
Faces of Mitochondrial Disease
I had my appointment with Dr. P this morning. Again he is concerned about quite a few things. My stomach and digestive issues have become more severe in the past few weeks and months. He is again concerned that my Adrenal Function is off. So he drew a Cortisol level this morning and wanted another level drawn at 4 this afternoon. I will be heading out to the clinic to have those labs drawn. He also wants me to have an injection of B-12 because that level has shown to be low. I also need to take Calcium and Vitamin D. There's a lot of nutritional imbalances so I need to look into some sort of supplemental nutrition. The more important things for me to get nutrition wise are carbohydrates and protein. My muscles have not been the best lately, in fact worse in the past few weeks so he is hoping that by getting some of these nutritional gaps taken care of we can help improve things. So we will have to see. I will have to remind them about the B-12 injection because I think they may have forgotten about that. All in all, things with the Spaniard and I are OK. I really do think a lot of him and am happy to have him as my PCP. I talked a few issues over with him and I feel better about things.
Well...I didn't end up going back to work yesterday. Long story short, because I'm not supposed to drive for three months after the last seizure, my workplace also does not want me working for three months after said episode as well. As depressing as it is, I have to just accept it and move on. It's difficult and I'm not very happy, but I will deal with it. They are looking into seeing if I can do something in activities to help out and have some sort of income. I hope everything works out for the best. Being off of work is very difficult for me.
My trunk muscles are starting to burn and get fatigued, so I better take some time to rest them. Lunch time is coming fast as well. I will update with lab results when I have them.
