Streams of consciousness

In the past year I have experienced many changes in my life. Some of those changes have been brought about by several very personal and heartbreaking losses. These changes have are not necessarily better, but I have come to realize that God has a purpose for everything that happens in our lives, including the people that are involved in them. People sometimes come into our lives for a very brief time and even though it is heartbreaking, those individuals add a great deal to our lives and our outlook on life. God has blessed me with compassion for and a special connection with children with special needs and the elderly.

Children with special needs add a great deal to the lives of those around them. They teach lessons that could otherwise take a lifetime to learn. Some of the lessons they teach are the true meanings of hope, love, patience, tolerance, and compassion. It is up to the rest of the world to listen to what they are teaching, because they don't do things like everyone else. God chooses special individuals to be parents to these precious "angels on loan from God". Parents are to be the full time 24/7 caregivers and speak for children who are seen by the rest of the world as "different".

Two very special children with disabilities I have had the pleasure of knowing and loving are Miss Aleia Kathleen and Miss Riley Nicolle. Both dealt with many challenges in their very short earthly lives, including seziures and numerous hospitalizations. They showed me how God provides for us, His children. Riley taught me that even from a distance you can love someone and offer support through prayer and conversations. Aleia taught me about caring for individuals with serious health problems and cherishing the wonderful, beautiful things in this earthly life. Even though I met Riley only once, she touched my heart and I loved her. Aleia brought a great deal of joy and love to my life for over six years. Though they are now in Heaven, they will always be in my heart.

I picture Aleia waiting for Riley in Heaven and showing her all of the wonderful things there. I see them walking hand in hand and enjoying their perfect bodies. They can finally play together like they never could here on Earth. They don't have any more seizures, pain, sadness, or tears. God took them Home to be happy with Him FOREVER. Until I see them again, I will cherish the memories I shared with them and keep them alive in my heart. They will always be "my girls".

I miss you girls so very much and knowing that I will see you again in Heaven brings a smile to my face and happiness to my heart. I love you, my sweet angels.
